Public-domain classics on Apple Vision Pro, iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Apple Watch and CarPlay — support and FAQ
Sophinium's library comes from Project Gutenberg's public catalog: tens of thousands of free, public-domain books. No account is needed to read any of them.
Sophinium is a single purchase that works on Apple Vision Pro, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV and CarPlay. There are no subscriptions, ads or in-app purchases.
Open a book and choose Read Together. One person taps Start a reading and shares the short code; the other taps Join and types it in. This works between any of your devices and theirs, including Apple TV, with no FaceTime call needed. If you are already on a FaceTime call, More ways to read together offers SharePlay. Reading by code needs everyone to be signed in to iCloud.
Check that every device is online and signed in to iCloud, and that the code was typed exactly as shown. Start a new reading if the old one was left open for many hours.
Bedtime Story reads your book aloud for 15 to 60 minutes. The voice slows and softens, the screen (or, on Vision Pro, the library) dims, and it stops at the end of a page with a quiet goodnight. Find it in the reader's controls, or ask Siri on iPhone, iPad or Apple TV.
Tap a glowing pad to go up or down the spiral stair, or to step up to a shelf. Pick a book up from the shelf and put it down on the desk to read it. You can enlarge or shrink the book with the zoom buttons below it, and turn pages with the buttons, by pinching a page corner, or by swiping a finger across the book.
Pinch the near corner of the page and drag sideways, or use the Previous and Next buttons in the floating control bar, or swipe a fingertip quickly across the book. If a page still will not turn, leave and re-enter the library from the reading panel.
Unfolded, the book opens as two pages with a spine on the hinge. Prop the phone half-open and the book moves to the top screen while the bottom screen shows page controls, a notes pad and a dictionary. Closing it bookmarks your page and pauses reading aloud.
On devices with Apple Intelligence, Ask the Book answers questions about the page you are reading. It runs on your device, so your questions and the text never leave it.
